Dish Jeans Doubles it Up for Fall '09!

July 2009 - The 80's are continuing to make their fashion comeback with the decade's style staple, the jean jacket! Either you are gasping in horror or frantically rummaging through a closet or vintage store to retrieve a cherished piece from the days of Madonna, big hair, and spandex. "But as much as we love the 80's trend, we have updated the jean jacket with a modern fitting silhouette. Gone are the boxy, over-sized jean jackets of the past.

Today's jean jackets are slim fitting and body conscious - and most of all, they are flattering." says Dish designer Christina Yeung.This Fall '09 Dish re-introduces its own classic jean jacket in a more fitted silhouette called Stephanie. The curved back hem is slightly shorter than the front, which makes it ultra flattering. Available in two washes, the Diamond is a clean, dark and dressier wash, while the Ravenna (pictured to the left) is a more rock and roll wash with handsanding and tinted highlights in all the right places. Embrace it or hate it; double denim has made its way back onto the streets. Matching denim washes is considered a fashion crime but doubling different washes and fabrics, creating a two-toned denim effect, is a definite do. The Stephanie jacket in Diamond wash can be rocked with a classic Dish Trixie boyfriend jean in Delphi vintage, which contrasts a broken-in feel with the clean, dark look of a rinse. However if you are not ready to wear denim on denim, you can always pair the Stephanie with a favorite plaid shirt and a solid black jean, or throw it over a feminine dress to add an edge to a simple look without adding too much effort. It's 80's retro but so right for now!

Noted Canadian jewelry designer Constantina James of Simply Sublime received a pleasant surprise last Tuesday, when the Academy Gift Bag Committee invited her to contribute pieces of her jewelry for inclusion in the renowned gift bags given to Oscar nominees.
Each of the non-winning nominees will receive the gift bag, including the Simply Sublime jewelry. "They saw my line in a New York online boutique and asked me to include 40 pieces from my line in their gift bags, and needless to say, I am ecstatic!" James said.
James is working furiously to get the pieces ready on time. “I am designing, signature necklaces and earrings specifically for the event. The cloud shaped, hand hammered Italian Sterling Silver and 24kt Rose Gold Vermeil jewelry will be easily recognizable to us on the nominees” says the designer. “When Angelina Jolie or Kate Winslet wears your line, it is a very good day” says James. “You cannot buy that kind of advertising.”

Beyonce in Public Library

Celeb spotting. This Public Library "Samburu Hope" tee is not only a must have, but partial proceeds go to a charity supporting clean water in a remote area in Northern Kenya. The lack of clean water is this tribes biggest issue. Beyonce is a big supporter of this project and so are we.
